December 15th, 2018. We gathered outside St. Augustine Lighthouse and Maritime Museum to be witness of the lifelong covenant of my son Alejandro Lepervanche with Elizabeth Voelkel. I am a Florida Notary who happens to be the father of the groom and I had the honor and responsibility to marry them. Here are the highlights of the lessons we shared during their beautiful outdoors ceremony.
Lighthouses are built by engineers to provide guidance to sailors. They are built on rocks that provide a solid foundation to withstand winds and waves. Comparing with lighthouses, our foundations are our beliefs, values, priorities, families, and friends.
Marriages are built on solid foundations to withstand the storms of life. Find your lighthouses, find the light from God, climb the stairs, and enjoy the view from the top. Start looking for the next one… together. Enjoy your similarities, minimize your differences, and respect your individualities.
Each new lighthouse you find will remind you of the vows you have made here. God Bless You.
“By virtue of the authority vested in me under the laws of the State of Florida, I now pronounce you husband and wife.” – Dr. Jose G. Lepervanche Valencia.
